Masateru Yamatani is a PhD student with concentration in comparative politics and political methodology. His research interest is the interplay of globalization and domestic politics in mature democracies. Methodology-wise, he is interested in application of causal inference techniques, and his recent working paper explores the relative age effect on political selection of elites in both single-member district and proportional representation portion in Japanese general elections using regression discontinuity design.
