Professor Michael Goodhart recently secured a Social Science Research Initiative grant for a collaboration with Professor Heath Cabot (Anthropology) entitled: Migration and Neoliberal Governance: The Case of Healthcare. The grant will support a year-long series of events examining migration and neoliberal governance through the lens of health care. Programming during the grant year will address broad questions regarding migration and neoliberal governance as they relate to the provision of health care, impacts on sending and receiving communities, and the creation and maintenance of social solidarity, especially in receiving communities.

This support will also aid the development of a broader, emergent interdisciplinary collaboration on migration and refugees, anchored in Pitt’s Global Studies Center (GSC), envisioned as an ongoing intellectual community of practice with multiple and shifting foci.
